HATS Stories

My siblings and I all faint. Some of our kids do, too. We had always been told that this condition, syncope, was benign; for many people that may be true. But my heart ❤️ stopping for 25 seconds seemed like a big deal to my doctors.

When reports emerged that Lily Safra had passed away, I knew I recognized the name, though I wasn't sure why. As it turns out, she was for many years one of the top 200 art collectors in the world. As I read through her obituary and several articles about her, I suddenly realized a more specific reason her name was so familiar to me: She was a major patron of the Edward Safra Family Lodge at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

How Jesus interacted with the women in His life was nothing short of groundbreaking in 1st century Israel. That's why I'm excited to be part of a new blog series, Jesus: The Guy who Revolutionized Life for Women. It's designed thematically to lead up to Fairmount Christian Church's 2013 Women's Ministry Retreat on March 1-2, 2013.

"3 years ago I suffered a full blown anaphylactic reaction after getting off my Peloton (exercise induced anaphylaxis, MCAS, HaTs). I went on to decline and ended up on home oxygen for 6 months; walking across the room or climbing stairs was a challenge. I was devastated that I was unable to exercise.  Cycling has always been a huge part of my life. Yesterday, I completed a 45 minute boot camp workout on my Peloton. I will never return to where I once was on the leaderboard, but for me, this is a huge accomplishment! I am elated!"
