"Bittersweet" is reminiscent of the folk songs in the 1960s and 70s, with a hint of jazz.

Verse 1:
Oh when the leaves
Come tumbling down
And Autumn breezes start to flow
I feel the need
To get outside
Before a fresh onslaught of snow
.
House wrens are squawking
Each time I walk in
The pebbles on ye ole brick road
The chimes a-chiming
Bring out my rhyming
There's a story to be told
.
The grey skies broodin'
An attitude in
Between the fall and holidays
Tells me it's fin'lly
Time to harvest bittersweet
.
(Break)
.
Verse 2:
Back in the woods
There is a tree
That we've been watching all year long
But we can't pick
Persimmon fruits
Until the frost is finally strong
.
House wrens are squawking
Each time I walk in
The pebbles on ye ole brick road
The chimes a-chiming
Bring out my rhyming
There's a story to be told
.
Grey skies are broodin'
An attitude in
Between the fall and holidays
Tells me it's fin'lly
Time to harvest bittersweet
.
The leaves are browner
The chill a downer
The season is so near complete
It's almost winter
The very thought is bittersweet
.
